Dr. La Verne Tolbert is President/CEO of Teaching Like Jesus Ministries, Inc. (TLJM), a parachurch ministry equipping leaders in the local church. She trains teachers with principles from Jesus’ ministry in interactive workshops and seminars throughout the United States.

Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

Dr. Tolbert's most cherished roles are those of a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is married to Elder Irving Tolbert, and together they have experienced the transformative power of adoption as they became parents to La Nej Garrison, M.A.—a dynamic speaker, philosopher, and apologist. La Nej is now happily married to Coach Matthew Garrison, and the Tolbert family's adoption story has blossomed into the joyful presence of three precious grandsons.
